Islam as a complete code of life has explicit moral codes and ethical system that regulate the behavior and interactions of Muslims from individual level to the international level. From politics to economics, education to social relations and interaction; all endeavors of a Muslim’s life are guided by the Shari’ah which prescribes what is right or proscribes what is wrong. Islamic ethical principles and moral codes are clearly rooted in the Glorious Qur’ān and the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW) who was sent to teach and guide people to the right path. With all the formal school systems and many Islamic organizations which undertake da’wah activities, teaching and proselytization still find it difficult to achieve their aims. This paper, therefore, employs analytical methods of qualitative analysis drawing data from the Glorious Qur’ān and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as well as other sources of Islamic law to explore the underlining basic principles of Islamic ethics and morals guiding teaching and da’wah. The paper further recommended ways of achieving a more sustainable teaching and da’wah practices in Muslim communities and beyond.
