Arabic Grammar and Qur’anic Mode of Recitations: A Descriptive Analysis
Keywords:
النحو, القراءات القرآنية, القرآن الكريمAbstract
Paying attention to our classical Arabic language is necessary because it is the language of the
Noble Qur’an and its preservation is part of preserving the Qur’an and Sunnah. As a result, Islamic scholars give due regard to Arabic grammar. The study aims to demonstrate the relationship between Arabic grammar and modes and rules of Qur’anic recitations. Using both descriptive and analytical approaches, it finds that observing grammatical roles safeguards the tongue and the pen from error and that failure to adhere to those rules while reciting the Qur’an accounts for the manifestation of technical errors in some modes of Qur’anic recitation. The analysis therefore recommends the facilitating the study of Arabic grammar and strict adherence to its rules by Qur’anic reciters. It also recommends teaching the correlation between Arabic grammar and modes of recitation of the Qur’an in Nigeria tertiary institution.
